Authentic stay at Lake Atitlán

This is the place to stay in Santa Cruz if you’re looking to learn more about the culture here, have a comfortable place to sleep, and eat amazing food. Racquel and her family were amazing hosts. I slept for 9 hours a night here after a 3 day trek from Xela and it was so perfect. Racquel brought me through her temazcal, while teaching me about the Kaqchikel language and culture. For such a busy lake that has honestly gotten quite gentrified, Racquel’s place provided such a genuine experience and a peaceful place. I couldn’t recommend this place more and will be advising friends and family to go ❤️ Graçias por todo Racquel!

We had the most amazing evening with Raquel and her family. We enjoyed the history of the temazcal and of Raquel and her ancestors. The temazcal experience with the medicinal plants was lovely (and much needed after having hiked Acatenango!). The dinner she and her family prepared was absolutely delicious. She easily accommodated a vegan request which was so appreciated. Such flavorful food! While everything was great, Raquel and her family really stood out as warm, welcoming people who loved sharing their culture and building community. We fell in love with Santa Cruz La Laguna and can't wait to go back! Highly recommend Raquel and her offerings- it was the highlight of the trip for all 6 of us (ages 19-52!).

We had a wonderful stay with Raquel and her family. During dinner we learned a lot from our hosts about the village, Mayan culture and one of the languages (kaqchikel). We really enjoyed Raquel and her family’s company. They are wonderful hosts, cook really good meals and offer different activities such as sunrise hikes, cooking classes and temazcal. We did a traditional temazcal and are very grateful they shared this precious tradition with us! Tiox nutuj.

What a gem this place is. Raquel is a fantastic hostess, an ambassador of her culture and kaqchikel language. She welcomed us in her home and explained the Temascal Ritual. Then we went in to the temascal and came out rejuvenated! She had mint juice waiting for us when we came out of the temascal. We changed into our clothes and a beautiful lunch overlooking the lake was expecting us. Thank you Raquel, and her beautiful family for showing us your cuisine and your traditions. I can’t wait to come back!

We really loved our stay with Raquel and her Family (Pablo, Irma, Pablito, Gladis). 🫶🏻 they are a very kind and humble family. They shared their traditions with us and we even had the chance to celebrate Pablitos Birthday with them. The Room was very clean and the Food super tasty. We definiately recommend staying with them.

Lovely place ran by a native family. Extremely helpful people that went out of their way to make me feel homey. Also some of the best breakfast I had in Guatemala.

To have an experience with a local family in Atitlan lake is the perfect place. Clean, kind, good food and atmosphere. We also tried the Mayan sauna, very interesting! Muchas gracias Raquel y Pablo

I had such an amazing stay with Raquel and her family. Everyone is kind, easy to be around to and just so welcoming. You will have some of the nicest views, looking over to the volcanos right from your bed. The food is great and the Temazcal is beautifully and respectfully curated! I will always cherish my days there and hope to return! Thank you to the whole family!
